We invite you to the wonderful world of hand made toys and vintage games
In our playrooms most of our toys and activities are made from paper, wood, bamboo, metal or fabrics. We feel, that surrounded by natural and hand-made objects we bring out the best energy within us. We are true to the authentic play that comes from the natural curiosity of the child. By giving the children interesting and authentic objects to play with, it inspires their creativity. Vintage Playroom has some great collections of vintage party games to keep us away from the screen.
We provide creative workshops, where children and adults can learn how to make things. We specialise in Origami and paper engineering but have other workshop leaders who can run more arts and crafts sessions. We support performing arts and provide musical theatre classes, drama classes, puppetry, light and shadow performances and storytelling. You can try them at our kids club, half term kids clubs and family sessions. We can do school visits and be booked for special events at other venues or home parties. We also provide activities for home educating families.
Our inspiration come from Vintage toys and games, children's books, Museum of Childhood, Science Museums, Marionette's Theaters, through stories of collectors and toy makers. Children and adults explore how toys and games were made and are encouraged to make their own versions. We use some helpful resources available from published books on Easy-to- Make Old fashioned toys.
We hope to see the revival of ‘toy theaters’, these Victorian miniatures, complete with paper scenery and characters, were a popular form of home entertainment in nineteenth- century Europe.
Looking for a party entertainer?
We love party games, there are so many party games that have been forgotten so come and join in fun the good old-fashioned way! If you have a party we can be your party entertainer and bring our props and party games with us. We can provide for children's parties as well as adults' parties, anniversaries, weddings or hen parties.
We are planning to host screenings of musicals from the olden years for children and adults.
We would love to host a dedicated playtime sessions in multi languages. Parents who would like to get involved please contact us.
A note to collectors: I am an advocate of bringing collectables back to life and introducing them to new generations. Dust off your collectables and don't hide them away from the world. Come and tell us about your collection.
